ABSTRACT:
Postpartum psychological complications are a significant public health concern affecting maternal well-being, infant development, and family stability.1 This study aimed to assess the awareness of caregivers regarding the prevention and management of postpartum psychological complications among antenatal and postnatal women. A quantitative descriptive cross-sectional design was adopted, involving 60 caregivers selected through purposive sampling from a tertiary care hospital in Kottayam, Kerala. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Results revealed that 50% of caregivers had good awareness, 33.33% had average awareness, and 16.67% had poor awareness. A significant association was found between awareness and educational status (P < 0.05), while other demographic variables showed no significant association. The findings emphasize the need for targeted educational interventions to improve caregiver awareness and promote better maternal mental health outcomes.
